Introduction

This list does not represent the service for any specific timetable period. However, the service pattern in Denmark does not vary much if at all between timetable periods. Standard abbreviations are explained in General Information.

Obscure services

Lemvig – Lemvig Havn

(Vemb-Lemvig-Thyborøn Jernbane: Midtjyske Jernbaner) (1A2, not shown) DK1

The line into the main station continues as a steeply-graded branch to the harbour, with a reversal en route. A tourist service with preserved railbuses has operated in the summer between the main station and a quayside platform (constructed 2012).

The service was operated by the newly formed SkinneBusGruppen Vestjylland (SBGV) in 2012. The SBGV was apparently dissolved on 5 April 2014 and their website no longer exists. The BjergBanen website is at present under construction, so it is not known as at December 2015 if this line will operate again.

Other seasonal services over freight lines are to be found in Danske Veterantog each year.

Hundested – Hundested Havn

(Frederiksværkbanen: Lokalbanen A/S) (4A1, not shown) DK2

Some but not all Frederiksværkbanen train services continue approximately 0.5 km to the Hundested Havn station, connecting with an hourly vehicle passenger ferry to Rørvig. The Rejseplanen journey planner does know about this service, but for some reason refuses to suggest it when connecting with the ferry and instead advises a walk from Hundested. The trains can, however, be found if you explicitly select "Hundested Havn st." as an endpoint (or even, perplexingly, "Hundested Havn (færge)"). Train times can also be found on the ferry company's timetables. Note that there are seasonal variations.

Fredericia avoiding line: Middelfart (Snoghøj) – Taulov

(6B2) DK3

This east to west curve between the main line from København and routes to Esbjerg and the German frontier, is used by IC or IC-Lyn trains between København and Esbjerg not calling at Fredericia and also by:

E IC230/1230 København H – 01:14 Middelfart – Hamburg Hbf
E IC231/1600/100 Hamburg Hbf – 02:35 Kolding - København H
E IC231/100 Hamburg Hbf – 03:27 Kolding - København H

Valby avoiding line: København H – Høje Taastrup (Hvidovre Fjern) (via Ny Ellebjerg)

(9A2 not shown) DK4

This connection comprises the initial phase of a future line between København and Ringsted, and part of the Kalvebod – Hvidovre Fjern freight bypass. It may be used by main line trains between København H and Høje Taastrup that do not call at Valby. Click on the thumbnail for a full size map.

In the 2012/2013 timetable, the equivalent of the following trains were scheduled to use this line:

  • All EuroCity to and from Hamburg / Berlin:
EC/ICE xx:37 København H – Høje Taastrup – Hamburg Hbf/Berlin Ostbf
EC/ICE Berlin Ostbf/Hamburg Hbf – xx:06 Høje Taastrup – København H
  • "Fast" regional trains to and from Nykøbing Falster/ Rødby Færge that run roughly in the pattern of the EuroCity trains in the hours where there is no EuroCity service:
SuX Re xx:37 København H – Høje Taastrup – Nykøbing F
SuX Re Nykøbing F – xx:06 Høje Taastrup – København H
  • All IC trains towards København, except ones that call at Valby. IC trains from København are routed via Valby.
  • Other miscellaneous trains, none of which call at Høje Taastrup, and which will not be listed here.

The compilers would appreciate any information on usage in 2016

Note that local tickets between København H and Høje Taastrup are valid on EuroCity but not on IC.

København Østerport - Lersøen (-Bispebjerg)

(9A2, not shown in detail) DK5

This freight line diverges east from the København H - Helsingor main line, dives under it at Nordhavn and runs parallel to the passenger tracks through Svanemollen and Ryparken before joining the Hellerup - Ny Ellebjerg S-Tog line north of Bispebjerg station.

This line has been used by the “Rundt om husene” (round the houses) steam specials run by Nordsjællands Jernbaneklub, which do an anti-clockwise circuit starting and finishing in København H, calling at Østerport, Nørrebro and Flintholm. No dates of operation are available yet for 2016. See their Rundt om husene med Veterantoget page for information.

København Airport avoiding line: Tårnby - Hyllie (Peberholm)

(9A2, not shown) DK6

The main line runs through CPH Lufthavn station below ground level. However, there is an avoiding line at ground level to the north of the station. Since the imposition of border controls between Denmark and Sweden, X2000 services no longer call at the airport. It is possible that these trains may be routed via the avoiding line. The compilers would greatly appreciate information on any train observed running via the avoiding line.
