This list is based on the timetable in force from 14 December 2014 until 12 December 2015, unless otherwise stated. Standard abbreviations are explained in General Information.

In the heading to each entry the map reference for the line in the Schweers+Wall Eisenbahn Atlas (2007/2008 edition) is shown, in italic, in addition to the reference to M.G. Ball's European Railway Atlas.

Obscure services

Mannheim-Waldhof – Mannheim Hbf (via Mannheim-Käfertal)

Most trains between Mannheim-Waldhof and Mannheim Hbf run via Mannheim-Luzenberg. Only one train is now scheduled to call at Mannheim-Käfertal and, therefore, obliged to use the alternative route.

Appenweier – Legelshurst (Appenweier Kurve)

This north to west curve forms part of the triangular junction between the Karlsruhe – Basel main line and the line to Kehl and Strasbourg. Local trains between Kehl and Offenburg stopping at Appenweier, use platform 9 on the south curve. The north curve is used by through trains between Karlsruhe and Strasbourg, principally the TGVs between Paris and Stuttgart. Sleeping car services between Germany and France also use this route.

Ubstadt-Weiher (Abzw Ubstadt) – Vaihingen (Enz.) (Abzw Rollenberg)

This north to east curve connects the Heidelberg to Karlsruhe main line with the Mannheim to Stuttgart Schnellfahrstrecke. It is used by frequent EC/IC/ICE trains non-stop between Heidelberg Hbf and Vaihingen (Enz) or Stuttgart Hbf.

Bruchsal (Abzw Bruchsal Nord) – Vaihingen (Enz.) (Abzw Rollenberg)

This south to east curve connects the Heidelberg to Karlsruhe main line with the Mannheim to Stuttgart Schnellfahrstrecke. It is used by EC/IC/ICE/TGV trains non-stop between Karlsruhe Hbf or Bruchsal and Vaihingen (Enz) or Stuttgart Hbf.

Bruchsal – Bruchsal Tunnelstraße (Abzw Bruchsal Ost)

There are two routes into Bruchsal from Abzw Bruchsal Ost. The 'long curve' (line 4131) is used by RE trains from Stuttgart to Heidelberg. Other trains use the 'short curve' (line 4130).

Enzberg (Abzw Mühlacker Süd) – Ötisheim (Abzw Mühlacker Nord)

This west to north curve links the Pforzheim and Bretten lines, avoiding Mühlacker, and is used on Sundays and public holidays 1 May to 20 October 2013 by the following trains.

Leopoldshafen Frankfurter Straße – KIT Campus-Nord Bahnhof

This branch off the Hochstetten line of the Albtalbahn is used by services for workers at KIT Campus, part of Karlsruher Institut für Technologie. This was previously known as Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe and is a nuclear research establishment. Although trains to and from KIT Campus-Nord Bahnhof are shown in the KVV timetable, downloadable as a PDF, note KI states that entry to the establishment is permitted only with an official identification card.

The Laupheim Stadt branch is connected to the Ulm - Friedrichshafen main line by a triangular junction at Laupheim West. Through services calling at Laupheim Stadt use the north and south curves whereas those not calling at Laupheim Stadt use the main line avoiding the branch.

Ettlingen West – Ettlingen Erbprinz

Ulmer Eisenbahnfreunde e. V. operate a number of steam excursions from Ettlingen Stadt to Herrenalb, which occasionally start back at Karlsruhe Hbf and use the above, normally freight-only, connection. For more details go to the Ulmer Eisenbahnfreunde website.

Schlatt (Hohenz.) (Walkmühle) – Hechingen Landesbahn

The service from Hechingen Landesbahn to Eyach operates on Sundays and Bank Holidays between 1 May and 18 October. The following train, the first of the day, runs through from Gammertingen and is the only one to use the above connection.

The connection between line 4620 and line 9461 at the east end of Kleinengstingen station is used by only a few trains. Almost all trains to and from Münsingen use the terminal platform on the north side of Kleinengstingen station but some use the connection to the through platform on the south side:
