===Nürnberg Hbf (Nürnberg-Dutzendteich) - Fürth (Bay) Hbf (via Nürnberg Rangierbahnhof===
(''162C3-162B3'') DE16/651A
This is a freight ring round the south side of Nürnberg.  It is sometimes used by special trips behind the replica steam locomotive ''Adler''.  Dates of operation in 2016 are 28 & 29 May, 2, 3, 23 & 24 July.  There is very limited capacity on these, as the trains comprise a small number of replicas of carriages used on the original 1835 railway between Nürnberg and Fürth.  Advance reservation is essential, because trips get fully booked well in advance.  All trips running in 2016 are full.  For further information, including details of further trips in due course, see the [www.dbmuseum.de DB Museum] website.

Revision as of 20:40, 29 May 2016

Introduction

This list is based on the timetable in force from 13 December 2015 until 10 December 2016, unless otherwise stated. Standard abbreviations are explained in General Information.

In the heading to each entry the map reference for the line in the Schweers+Wall Eisenbahn Atlas (2011 edition) is shown, in italic, in addition to the reference to M.G. Ball's European Railway Atlas.

Obscure services

Gemünden (Main) (Wernfeld) – Waigolshausen

[800, 810] (51B2, 78C4-79B4) DE16/651

This line, which is about 35 km long, provides a more direct route between Gemünden (Main) and Schweinfurt than the main line via Würzburg or the branch lines via Bad Kissingen. It is likely to be used by excursions, particularly steam trains, between the Frankfurt area and Meiningen or Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg, because it is a suitable place for photographic stops and run-pasts.

SSuO RE4647 Frankfurt am Main Hbf – 10:25 Gemünden (Main) – Bamberg
SSuO RE4649 Frankfurt am Main Hbf – 16:25 Gemünden (Main) – Bamberg
SSuO RE4646 Bamberg – 12:59 Schweinfurt Hbf – Frankfurt am Main Hbf
SSuO RE4648 Bamberg – 19:00 Schweinfurt Hbf – Frankfurt am Main Hbf

These trains do not run between Frankfurt am Main and Aschaffenburg on 6 January, 15 August and 1 November 2016.

Nürnberg Hbf (Nürnberg-Dutzendteich) - Fürth (Bay) Hbf (via Nürnberg Rangierbahnhof

(162C3-162B3) DE16/651A

This is a freight ring round the south side of Nürnberg. It is sometimes used by special trips behind the replica steam locomotive Adler.

Hersbruck (rechts Pegnitz) – Pommelsbrunn

[870] (60A3, 90A3) DE16/652

This spur links the lines leading east from Nürnberg on each bank of the Pegnitz. It is used by trains between Nürnberg Hbf and Neukirchen (b Sulzbach-Rosenberg) that call at Hersbruck (rechts Pegnitz) or are non-stop. Principal use is by RE services between Nürnberg, Schwandorf and Neustadt (Waldnaab).

Trebgast (Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg Süd) – Marktschorgast (Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg Ost) (Schlömener Kurve)

[860] (53A2 not shown, 81B3) DE16/653

This south to north curve, opened in 2001, connects the Bayreuth and Hof lines, avoiding Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg. It is used by RE trains between Nürnberg and Hof via Bayreuth. These mostly run every two hours.

Ingolstadt Hbf – Weichering and Schrobenhausen (Seehof Bbf)

[983,993] (60A1 not shown, 97D4) DE16/654

The lines to Ingolstadt from Augsburg and from Donauwörth join at Seehof Bbf and then split into two independent single tracks forming a flying junction with the main line from München. Crossovers south of Ingolstadt Hbf mean that all platforms are accessible from both routes, but the branch trains do not normally cross the main line on the flat. Trains to platforms 5, 6 and 7, on the east side of Ingolstadt Hbf use the flyover, but those to platforms 1, 2 and 2a on the west side do not. The hourly trains to and from Augsburg mostly use platforms 1, 2 and 2a, and the direct spur from Seehof Bbf. Trains to and from Donauwörth mostly run via the flyover and use platforms 5, 6 and 7.

Augsburg-Oberhausen – Neusäß (Augsburg-Hirblinger Straße)

[980] (70B3, 163C3) DE16/655

There are two routes, that from the east side of (and flying over) the Donauwörth line being used by most trains. The other, from the west side of the Donauwörth line, is used by trains between the Ulm line and platforms 7, 8 or 9 at Augsburg Hbf.

Leienfelsstrasse (Abzw Pasing West) – Abzw Pasing Nord – München Hbf (Abzw München Kanal) (via the Abstellbahn line)

[970] (66A2, 164B3-164D3) DE16/656

The normal route for trains between Buchloe and München Hbf is by a flyover over the Starnberg line S-Bahn tracks (S8) west of Pasing, through platforms 1 to 3 there and thence to the north side platforms at Hauptbahnhof via the Fernbahn line from Starnberg (line 5504). The following EC trains between München and Zürich via Lindau are booked to use an alternative route. From Abzw. Pasing West this dives under the Augsburg line, passes north of Pasing station and joins the Ingolstadt main line at Abzw München Kanal.

EC191 Zürich HB - 10:43 Buchloe - München Hbf
EC193 Zürich HB - 12:43 Buchloe - München Hbf
EC195 Zürich HB - 16:43 Buchloe - München Hbf
EC194 12.33 München Hbf - Zürich HB
EC192 16.33 München Hbf - Zürich HB
EC190 18.33 München Hbf - Zürich HB

This route is also used between Abzw Pasing Nord and Abzw München Kanal by the following trains via Augsburg:

D SSuX IC2061 Stuttgart Hbf - 09:37 Augsburg Hbf - München Hbf
D1 ICE517 Dortmund Hbf - 16:12 Augsburg Hbf - München Hbf
D ICE1613/IC2303 Warnemünde/Rostock Hbf/Berlin-Gesundbrunnen - 21:46 Augsburg Hbf - München Hbf
D SSuX IC2294 05:36 München Hbf - Ulm Hbf/Stuttgart Hbf/Frankfurt am Main Hbf
D ICE786 13:40 München Hbf - Hamburg-Altona
D1 SuO IC1910 15:47 München Hbf - Dortmund Hbf

D1: 30 July to 11 September 2016

München-Pasing (Abzw. Landsberger Straße) – Abzw. Friedenheimer Brücke – München Ost (München Süd)

[980] (66A2, 164B3-165A4) DE16/657

Most trains from the Augsburg direction not calling at München Hbf follow the main line from München-Pasing as it dives under the S-Bahn and Starnberg tracks. They branch south on to the avoiding line at Abzw. Landsberger Straße and continue via Abzw. Friedenheimer Brücke to join the main line from München Hbf to München Ost at München Süd.

D AZ1495/1497 22:55 Hamburg-Altona – München Ost AA
D2 RJ63 Frankfurt am Main Hbf - 08:57 Augsburg Hbf - Budapest-Keleti
IC2083 Hamburg-Altona – 13:59 München-Pasing – Berchtesgaden Hbf
IC2082 Berchtesgaden Hbf – 11:17 München Ost – Hamburg-Altona
D3 RJ66 Budapest-Keleti - 20:20 München Ost - Frankfurt am Main Hbf
D AZ1494/1496 22:30 München Ost - Hamburg-Altona AA

D2: 30 & 31 July 2016 only

D3: 30 July 2016 only

Note that line S20 services (peak hour trains between München-Pasing and Höllriegelskreuth) use line 5521 from Pasing and then run parallel to this route as far as München-Heimeranplatz before branching off to join the Holzkirchen line at München-Mittersendling.

München-Moosach – München-Johanneskirchen (via München-Freimann)

(66A2-66A3, 164D2-165C2) DE16/658

The Bayerisches Eisenbahnmuseum usually runs Nikolausfahrten rund um München in December. These run via the Nording and in past years have usually been routed via München-Moosach. Dates of operation in 2015 were 5, 6, 12 and 13 December, with departures from München Ost at 10:00, 11:30, 13:30 and 15:00. As well as the Nordring east from München-Moosach these trains also use the connection between the S-Bahn and Mühldorf lines at Riedenburgerstrasse and the route between München Süd and München-Neulustheim (on the Landshut line) via Laim Rbf.

Rosenheim avoiding line: Bad Endorf (Abzw Rosenheim Ost) – Pfraundorf (Inn) (Abzw Rosenheim Süd)

[ÖBB 300] (71A2, 116C1-116C2) DE16/659

This east to south curve linking the Salzburg and Wörgl lines provides a through route between Salzburg and Kufstein for Austrian Korridorzüge, which run non-stop through Germany. They are not included in the DB Kursbuch, but are those shown in the ÖBB Fahrpläne (table 300) calling at both Kufstein and Salzburg Hbf.

Rosenheim – Rohrdorf(Oberbay)

(71B2, 116C1-116C2) DE16/660

In recent years a train marketed as the "Wies'n-Express" has run on the 7.1 km freight branch from Rosenheim to Rohrdorf (Oberbay) for the Rosenheim Autumn Festival in late August and early September.

The Rohrdorf branch appears to be operated by Logistik Wiesböck. Details of trains can be found at Herbstfest Rosenheim website > Wiesn-Express > Fahrplan. The 2015 service followed the pattern of previous years and comprised:

From Rohrdorf: 10:30 (29 Aug), 11:30 (2 & 9 Sept), 16:30 (29 Aug, 5 & 12 Sep), 17:30 (31 Aug, 4, 7 & 11 Sept), 17:35 (2 & 9 Sept)

From Rosenheim: 15:55 (29 Aug), 17:05 (2 & 9 Sept), 23:45 (29 & 31 Aug, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11 & 12 Sept)

There is also a regular bus service between Rosenheim and Rohrdorf.

Prien Bahnhof – Stock Hafen

(Chiemsee-Schifffahrt Ludwig Feßler) (72A2, 116D1) DE16/661

Trains operate over this line during the summer in connection with cruises on the Chiemsee. There is a weekend service in May and daily thereafter. For further information see www.chiemsee-schifffahrt.de.
