There are two routes available for ''S-Bahn'' trains between Leipzig Hbf (tief) and platforms 1 and 2 on the Bitterfeld line at Leipzig Messe.  These are via Leipzig Nord on the Eilenburg line (6396) or via the main line to Bitterfeld (6411). There are connections between Leipzig Nordkopf, on line 6411, and Leipzig Nord.  The southbound connection, in particular, follows a separate alignment of its own. All ''S1'' trains to and from Leipzig Messe run via and call at Leipzig Nord.  ''S2'' trains to and from Delitzsch or Bitterfeld use line 6411 northbound and line 6396 southbound.

SSuO S37930 05:54 Delitzsch unt Bf - Halle (Saale) Hbf
S37931 Halle (Saale) Hbf – 22:52 Kyhna – Delitzsch unt Bf

The current timetable is only valid until 13 April 2018. Timings are subject to change after this date.

Leipzig-Leutzsch – Wiederitzsch – Leipzig Hbf (Leipzig-Mockau)

This is a longer route between Leipzig-Leutzsch and Leipzig Hbf via the freight ring line.

SuX ICE1526 Jena Paradies - 07:30 Weißenfels - Hamburg-Altona

Leipzig-Leutzsch – Wiederitzsch – Rackwitz (Abzw Leipzig Messe Nord)

[250, 580] (131B3-131C2) DE18/303

This route enables trains to run between the Erfurt and Berlin main lines without reversing at Leipzig Hbf. The trains between Paris and Moskva use this route 12 December to 15 February.

Leipzig Hbf (tief) (Leipzig Berliner Straße) – Leipzig Messe (Leipzig Nordkopf)

[501.2, 503] (131C3-131C2) DE18/304

There are two routes available for S-Bahn trains between Leipzig Hbf (tief) and platforms 1 and 2 on the Bitterfeld line at Leipzig Messe. These are via Leipzig Nord on the Eilenburg line (6396) or via the main line to Bitterfeld (6411). All S2 and S6 trains to and from Leipzig Messe or beyond now run via and call at Leipzig Nord and so use line 6396 and the connections between Leipzig Nordkopf, on line 6411, and Leipzig Nord in both directions. The southbound connection, in particular, follows a separate alignment of its own. The only S-Bahn trains to use the southern end of line 6411 are S5/S5X services to and from the Leipzig/Halle Flughafen line.

Leipzig Hbf (Leipzig-Mockau) - Rackwitz (Abzw Leipzig Messe Nord)

[250] (131C3-131C2) DE18/305

A single line (6388) runs to the east of the flyovers carrying the Wiederitzsch and Flughafen lines. It is used by RE trains between Leipzig and Magdeburg, 07:00 to 20:00, and by:

Leipzig-Heiterblick - Leipzig-Anger (via Leipzig-Schönefeld)

[209.43, 501.4] (131D3) DE18/306

This is an alternative route into Leipzig from Cottbus, via the east side of the Leipzig ring line.

RE18396 Cottbus - 20:45 Taucha (b Leipzig) - Leipzig Hbf

Oschatz – Glossen (b Oschatz) (Döllnitzbahn GmbH)

(59B3) DE18/307

The Döllnitzbahn operates a limited service over this 750mm gauge line. Steam trains operate to Glossen at certain weekends. The only regular trains over the full length of the line are the following diesel trains:

SSuX DBG104 13:11 Oschatz Hbf – Glossen (b Oschatz)
SSuX DBG107 14:14 Glossen (b Oschatz) – Oschatz Hbf

The line to Kemmlitz (b Oschatz) re-opened for special trains on 10 June 2017. These run at certain weekends. For further information see www.doellnitzbahn.de.

Zabeltitz/Nünchritz (Radebeul Abzw Az) - Radebeul-Naundorf

[500] (72C2) DE18/308

Following the provision of additional tracks, all fast trains between Dresden and Leipzig or Berlin run via Radebeul Ost, whether or not they stop at Dresden-Neustadt. There is therefore no longer any use of this north-south connection at Radebeul.

Zabeltitz (Großenhain Berliner Bf W16) - Radebeul-Kotzschenbroda

(59D3-59D4) DE18/309

RB and RE trains between Dresden and Elsterwerda run via Priestewitz and Großenhain Cottbuser Bf. EC/IC trains between Dresden and Berlin once again run direct via this route, after having been diverted away during the 2016 and 2017 timetable periods.

This part of the original rail route from Berlin to Dresden links Falkenberg with the Leipzig – Dresden main line near Riesa. The local passenger service has been withdrawn, but when there is engineering work on the main line to/from Berlin via Elsterwerda, all EC, EN and IC trains between Berlin and Dresden are diverted by this route. This was the case during most of 2016 and 2017.
