Introduction

This list is based on the timetable dated from 9 December 2018 to 14 December 2019, unless otherwise stated. Standard abbreviations are explained in General Information. Map references relate to the 2014 issue of the Schweers+Wall Eisenbahnatlas Deutschland.

Obscure services: Lines use on a regular basis

Niebüll – Niebüll neg

(1D3) DE19/001

DB and neg Niebüll GmbH have separate stations in Niebüll. The only passenger service over the section of the branch to Dagebüll between the neg station and the junction with the main line is provided by a few through workings, which do not operate during the winter, other than around the New Year holiday period. The DB Kursbuch does not indicate through workings, but the neg timetable does.

Kiel-Oppendorf - Schönberg (Holstein)

(3C4-3D4) DE19/002

Tourist trains run every Saturday and Sunday during the summer between Schönberg (Holst) and Schönberger Strand. In recent years there have been through trains between Kiel Hbf and either Schönberg (Holst) or Schönberger Strand on a few days in June. See the Schönberger Museumsbahnen timetable. Work is under way to upgrade the line to allow reintroduction of a regular passenger service between Kiel and Schönberger Strand, which may restrict operations meantime.

Burg (Fehmarn) West

[140] (4C3) DE19/003

This triangular junction connects Fehmarn-Burg with the main line between Lübeck and Puttgarden.

The main line is used by EC and ICE trains between Hamburg and København via the Puttgarden – Rødby train ferry. All RB trains between Lübeck and Puttgarden call at Fehmarn-Burg, using the east-facing sides of the triangle in sequence. There are a few dated IC trains between Hamburg and Fehmarn-Burg, which use only the east to south curve.

Obscure services: Lines used on an occasional basis for engineering work diversions

Kiel avoiding line: Flintbek (Meimersdorf) - Kiel-Hassee Cittipark

[103, 146] (118B2) DE18/031F

This north to south curve allows trains to run between the Neümunster and Flensburg lines at Kiel without reversal at the Hauptbahnhof. It is used by passenger trains when engineering work blocks the main line between Neümunster and Flensburg.

D1 SO IC1130 København H - 01:35 SuO Fredricia - Hamburg Hbf

D1: Saturday/Sunday nights 30 March to 14 September, but not 22 and 29 June 2019.
