Introduction

This list is based on the timetable current as at January 2015. Standard abbreviations are explained in General Information.

Obscure services

Kaunas avoiding line: Palemonas (Pamaris) – Garliava (Jiesia)

(ERA1 115B3) LT15/1

Used by all services between Vilnius and Kaliningrad-Pass.

(Vilnius –) Paneriai – Valčiūnai

(ERA1 115B4, not shown) LT15/2

There are two routes between Paneriai and Valčiūnai, a line which was used by trains serving Vaidotai staff halts (see the map below) - a direct south curve and a longer north curve, which climbs to cross over the Kaunas main line. Both curves are reversibly signalled. Rail staff confirm that their use is variable at the signaller's discretion. Services that used these curves were withdrawn on 1 January 2015.

Railway Map of Vaidotai area:

Vaidotai

(Vilnius) – Paneriai – Vaidotai Yard - Valčiūnai

(ERA1 115B4) LT15/3

One train in each direction on the Vilnius – Stasylos line ran via the western part of the Vilnius southern avoiding line as a service to railway staff working at Vaidotai marshalling yard. The southbound service used the line on the south west side of the yard and the northbound train the line on the north east side. There are identically named staff halts at Vaidotai KIK, MRC & AIK on each separate line. However, all services to Stasylos were withdrawn on 1 January 2015, so nothing now uses this route.

Radviliškis

(ERA1 115A3) LT15/4

Radviliškis station lies between two marshalling yards, one to the NW and another, larger yard to the SE. Trains from Šiauliai run on the south side of both yards whereas those from the Vilnius direction run on the north side of the yards. The maximum separation of these running lines in the larger yard is over 300 m.

Other sparse services

The following lines have fewer than three trains each way on at least three days a week, or do not run each weekday.

  • (Radviliškis –) Linkaiciai – Panevēžys – Rokiškis
  • Marijampolė – Šeštokai (service suspended south of Kazlų Rūda at present)
  • (Kaunas –) Palemonas – Jonava (– Šiauliai)
  • (Vilnius –) Oro uostas – Valciunai – Stasylos – Benjakonī/Беняконі (Belarus). Note that there is no advertised stop between Vilnius and Benjakonī/Беняконі.

Deletions since previous edition

  • Turmantas – Daugavpils (Latvia): service withdrawn
