Introduction

This list is based on the timetable valid from 12 December 2021. Standard abbreviations are explained in General Information.

Map references for each route entry are given in parentheses ( ). References prefixed "ERA" refer to the European Railway Atlas Baltic States, Belarus & Ukraine, Regional Series 2017, by M.G.Ball.

Obscure services

Kaunas avoiding line: Palemonas (Pamaris) – Garliava (Jiesia)

(ERA-E 115B3; ERA-R 254B1) LT22/1

Used by all services between Vilnius and Kaliningrad-Passazerskiy. It is thought that the Russian trains in transit to and from Kaliningrad are still running as at April 2022, but they do not make any public stops in Lithuania.

Radviliškis

(ERA-E 115B3; ERA-R 254A1, not shown on either map) LT22/2

Radviliškis station lies between two marshalling yards, one to the NW and another, larger yard to the SE. Trains from Šiauliai run on the south side of both yards whereas those from the Vilnius direction run on the north side of the yards. The maximum separation of these running lines in the larger yard is over 300 m.

Šiauliai — Šarkiai — Meitene (Latvia) — Jelgava

(ERA-E 115A3; ERA-R 253B1-C1) LT22/3

Ukrainian Railways operated a seasonal train between Kiev/Kyiv and Riga by this route. However, the train was suspended with effect from 15 March 2020, as Latvia cancelled all international travel.

Other sparse services

The following lines have fewer than three trains each way on at least three days a week, or do not run each weekday.

Marijampolė – Trakiszki (Poland) (– Suwałki) Fridays: one train northbound; Saturdays and Sundays: two trains each way; Mondays: one train southbound. This train is currently suspended but is due to resume on 1 July 2022.

(Kaunas –) Palemonas – Jonava (– Šiauliai) One train a day each way
