Welcome to the Enthusiast's Guide to Travelling the Railways of Europe

For each country in the Guide, there are three sections:

CORONAVIRUS

Following the Covid-19 related cuts across Europe in 2020, most services have been reinstated but there may still be some reductions, particularly on cross-border services. Certain long-distance services are suspended. Mask-wearing on public transport is compulsory or strongly advised in most countries. In some countries these need to be medical-grade FFP2 masks. For full information, check operators' websites and the public health websites of the countries it is planned to visit.

This website continues to show advertised train services as far as possible, but temporary alterations to the regular service may be found.

Information about restrictions on travel to European Union countries can be found at the RE-open EU website.

A summary of train service alterations can be found at the Man in Seat 61 website. The European Rail Timetable endeavours to show the service in operation at the time of publication.
