These entries are based on the timetable from 12 December 2020 to 10 December 2021. However, it should be noted it is completely reissued about four times per year with "adjustments" due on 14 March, 13 June, 29 August and 7 November 2021. In addition, there are frequent amendments within timetable periods.

Obscure services: Lines with regular use

Łódź Kaliska avoiding line 539

After a period of no use from 14 June until 24 August 2020 all trains between Warszawa and Ostrow Wielkopolski now run via Łódź Widzew and the Łódź Kaliska avoiding line, and vice versa.

Łódź Widzew - curve 541 - Łódź Olechow Wschód - Łódź Chojny

[622] (ERA177B2, R11) PL21/601

The December 2019 timetable change introduced a new service from Łódź Widzew to Łódź Kaliska via three new stations on the direct line between Koluszki and Łódź Chojny passing Łódź Olechów freight yard. Full details in new timetable 622. Trains to/from the Poznań direction avoiding Łódź Kaliska and starting from/bound for Łódź Fabryczna that are given only one minute at Łódź Widzew will use this route.

This reopening has meant reinstatement of the flyover to access curve 541 to/from Łódź Olechów Wschód.

Skierniewice – line 529 – Skierniewice Rawka (podg. Miedniewice)

This line runs eastwards from Skierniewice to the north of the yards, providing an alternative route towards Warszawa. By at least October 2019 a new Platform had been built on the far north side track [Peron 3 Track 104]. This means any train to/from Warszawa using this platform must run via 2km of previously goods only lines on the north side of a yard, plus the 1.9km long line 529 which is a separate alignment to/from the Warszawa main line on the north side of the westbound flyover from line 604.

Two KM services used Peron 3 Track 104 and ran via the obscure route until 7 November 2020. One Berlin - Warszawa EC also used the route, subject to good timekeeping of the train and conflicting service.

There is no use of Peron 3 Track 104 towards Warszawa in the 2020-2021 timetable period according the arrival and departure sheets, but note that most dated services do not yet show a departure platform. No EC services appear to use the route either. The compilers would welcome observations of any trains found to be using this route

Warszawa Zachodnia "avoider" - Line 510 - Warszawa-Gołąbki - Line 19 - Piastów

A new IC service started in 2019/20 between Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina and Łódź Fabryczna running via the above previously freight only route. Trains ran approximately two hourly with gaps but were suspended from 18 March. It was shown as resuming on 8 November 2020, but did not do so. The service is not shown in the 2020-21 timetable.

Warszawa Gdańska – Warszawa Jelonki – Warszawa Gołąbki – Piastów (podg Jozefinów)

This route allows trains from Warszawa Wschodnia and trains from the north and west to avoid Warszawa Centralna and Warszawa Zachodnia before taking the CMK or heading for Koluszki and destinations such as Łódź, Częstochowa and Wrocław. In excess of 15 trains, each way, make use of this diversion from 14 March 2021 until 11 December 2021 due to engineering works at Warszawa Zachodnia. Warszawa Wschodnia to Łódź Fabryczna and v.v. trains are especially likely to use this route.

The trains using the route can most easily be identified from the All Year arrival and departure sheets for Warszawa Gdańska Peron sheets. Alternatively look at timetable 601 and departures/arrivals from/to Warszawa Wschodnia that do not call at Warszawa Centralna and Warszawa Zachodnia and have twelve < symbols and two | symbols at Pruszków.

Gałkówek – Żakowice Południowe – p.odg. Zieleń – Koluszki

Any services via this route use line 535 and cross over the Częstochowa main line to/from the east side platforms at Koluszki by calling at or running through Żakowice Południowe. Use in the past has been indicated by either a Timetable footnote, or a * or < marker against a Żakowice timing and use recently has varied from a few services to none.

Any prospective traveller should check the Żakowice Połudnowie arrival and departure sheets for services that are booked to call at Koluszki. Note Gałkówek via Żakowice Południowe to podg Zielen is common with PL20/113 and that a December 2018 traveller advised his Łódź – Koluszki - Opoczno service ran non-stop through Żakowice Południowe so a Journey Planner map view search may find others using this route than shown on the Peron sheets.

This north <=> east curve connects the Warszawa to Radom line with the southern freight ring. In 2019/20 all 604 services to/from Góra Kalwaria use this curve. Additionally used by the train in PL21/652.

Czachówek Południowy – Czachówek Wschodni

No scheduled use in 2021. This south <=> east curve connects the Radom to Warszawa line with the southern freight ring. In recent years a few Warszawa to Góra Kalwaria (and v.v.) services continued to Czachówek Południowy to reverse and use this curve. Last known use was up to 12 July 2019.

Warszawa Zachodnia - [Line 46] - Line 20 - Warszawa Główna Towarowa - Warszawa Gołąbki

[606] (ERA174B5, R7) PL21/605A

Trains between Warszawa Zachodnia and Sochaczew with a < against Warszawa Ursus Północny. Use resumed from 14 June 2020 to 8 November 2020 after extensive use during 2018/19 from 11 March 2018.

Map view showed two services routed from Warszawa Gołąbki to Warszawa Główna Towarowa freight yard and line 20 past Odolany carriage sidings to Warszawa Zachodnia which is a 7km diversion. From 31 August 2020 these two trains had reverted to the normal route.

Note any inbound and outbound services use different routes between Warszawa Zachodnia and Warszawa-Czyste so these towards Warszawa are shown to run via line 20, Warszawa-Czyste and line 46 underneath the normal main line to reach the eastbound platforms at Warszawa Zachodnia. See also PL20/655 for extra detail on Warszawa Gołąbki.

Any Westbound services with a < marker at Warszawa Ursus Północny plus calls at Warszawa Centralna [i.e. not on the local lines through Warszawa-Srodmiescie] should use an unnumbered line on the north side from Warszawa Zachodnia Peron 7 to Warszawa-Czyste to join line 20.

No use in 2020-2021 timetable.

Warszawa Zachodnia Peron 8

Usually local services to/from Warszawa Gdanska terminate at Warszawa Zachodnia Peron 8 on a sharp curve in relation to the main station platforms. In 2019/20 there was an hourly through service through to/from Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina and Legionowo Piaski via Warszawa Gdanska until 26 September 2020 when a Press Notice for station improvement works at Warszawa Zachodnia stated this service will resume after the work ends in 2023. So it was a surprise when they were re-instated from 11 November 2020, with the 2020/21 timetable showing them running until 14 March 2021.

Warszawa Praga - Warszawa Toruńska

Between 23 and 28 August 2020 many KM services to/from Warszawa Gdanska and Legionowo had < markers at Warszawa Praga and Warszawa Toruńska but these were on non-platform lines rather than through the freight yard. No use in 2020-21.

Chotomów – curve 511 - Legionowo Piaski – (Tłuszcz)

Regular use by a limited through Sierpc to Tłuszcz service which avoids Legionowo that commenced in 2017 and continues. Note the separate track starts before station Legionowo Przystanek so eastbound timings are for the stop before.

There are two routes between Bedoń and Łódź Chojny: a north route via Łódź Widzew or southern via Łódź Olechów. Services running via Łódź Olechów could previously be identified by either a footnote in the PDF advising of a call at Łódź Olechów Wschód or a < marker against Łódź Widzew plus a timing or | at Łódź Chojny and/or Łódź Kaliska. There is no complete use of the southern route in 2020/21 and none since diverted PR services between 29 April and 15 May 2019 but Łódź Olechów Wschód to Łódź Chojny is currently in regular use as per PL20/601.

Skierniewice avoiding line: podg Skierniewika – podg Skierniewice Park

This N - S curve (line 530) to the west of Skierniewice links the Łowicz and Koluszki lines. Previous scheduled use by summer overnight trains to/from the Baltic coast and by one train from May to June 2017. Use resumed from 30 August 2020 and continues in the 2020-2021 timetable

A train pair was scheduled to use this line from 4 May to 16 June 2017, but there has been nothing since, and there are no services over the line in the current timetable.

This west <=> east curve east of Warszawa Zoo consists of a very large grade separated junction which allows trains from Warszawa Wschodnia and trains coming from the Warszawa Rembertow direction to reach Warszawa Gdańska. Two westbound Woodstock service used this route in 2017.

There is considerable use of this curve in the 2020-2021 timetable period by trains avoiding Warszawa Centralna and Warszawa Zachodnia.

This connecting line allows trains from The Warszawa Rembertow direction to continue west to Warszawa Gdańska (using PL21/658) or north towards Legionowo. Between p.odg. W-wa Michałów and Warszawa Rembertow the two tracks take totally different alignments east and westbound. Two westbound Woodstock service used this route in 2017. There is renewed use in 2020-2021.

Alternative route between Warszawa Wschodnia and Warszawa Gocławek used by any IC trains booked via Otwock with a < against Warszawa Olszynka Grochowska. Note the routes split at Warszawa Rembertow with the inbound as a separate track until the Warszawa Wschodnia approaches. Used between 4 August - 1 September 2018. Now the renovation of line 614 line is complete the majority of IC services now use line 614 calling at Otwock, and all these services use this obscure route from 13 December 2020.
