==Introduction==
PKP releases on line PDFs covering short periods plus an additional version covering the complete timetable year, the current ones from 15 October to 9 December 2017. As it is over 1,000 pages it is proving difficult to keep totally on top of all minor timing changes to Unusual Line entries so travellers are strongly advised to check Journey Planners for ALL Unusual lines travels. It should also be noted that PKP reissues individual PDFs within a Timetable period and simply slots them into the full set, this date is shown in a very small font on the bottom of each page.
PKP now releases PDFs for both part and all of the current timetable year so this list is based on those for the period 9 December 2018 to 14 December 2019 which suggested unusual lines use commencing later in 2019. Travellers are strongly advised to check the Journey Planners for ALL Unusual lines timings as revised PDFs are issued on a regular basis.

The 2016 PDFs included a number of one off specials which were listed here if they used unusual lines. There were:-
In 2016 a number of one off specials were included in the full year PDFs but this has not occurred since. These were mainly frequent excursions run by Turkol ([http://www.turkol.pl/ Turystyka Kolejowa]. Many involve the Wolsztyn steam engines and freight only track but not all visited on these Tours will be EGTRE Unusual Line entries. Anyone interested in travelling PKP freight lines is strongly advised to become familiar with the Turkol website as examples in 2018 include trips to Miedzychod [both routes], Czarnkow, Gniezno via Kcynia to Naklo and Brodnica - Rypin – Sierpc [by DMU].
* Frequent excursions run by ([http://www.turkol.pl/ Turystyka Kolejowa] Turkol) which are not shown in the 2017 PDF's.
* Special services run by PKP-PolRegio for the Woodstock Festival (''Przystanek Woodstock''), the largest Free annual music festival in Europe which is held near Kostrzyn. In 2017 it is from Thursday 3rd to Saturday 5th August and note these trains require special PolRegio tickets; normal PKP tickets and InterRail etc are not valid.

Also note many Turkol excursions use the Wolsztyn based steam engines and include freight only track not listed below such as to Miedzychod, Lubsko and Kruszwica. See the [http://www.turkol.pl Turkol website]
There are also special services via unusual routes run by PKP-PR for the Woodstock Festival Poland (''Przystanek Woodstock''), the largest Free annual music festival in Europe near Kostrzyn attended by over 600,000 people and usually held in early August. Note these trains require special tickets; normal PKP tickets are not valid and details of the 2018 services appeared only when the Summer PDFs were released.

Since withdrawal of local trains from Radom beyond the Mazowieckie Region boundary, only the section from Tomaszów Mazowiecki to Idzikowice and a 4.5 km west to south curve to the CMK remain in regular use (by TLK services listed in table 114). Since 2016 the curve between p.odg. Zapowiedź and Radzice has been used by only a pair of Woodstock specials.

====[Częstochowa  –] Żelisławice – Włoszczowa Północ [– Warszawa]====
[P200, 100] (ERA183C3, ''F8'') PL17/3

This 7.7 km west to north link between the Częstochowa - Radom line and the CMK northwards is used by
* EIC Pendelinos running non-stop between Warszawa and Częstochowa Stradom en route to/from Opole and Wrocław
* limited trains to/from Kielce via the CMK, which reverse at Żelisławice. As they run non-stop on this section they are no longer shown in table 109.

====Czarnca – Psary (p.odg. Knapówka)====
[100, 109] (ERA182C3, ''F8'') PL17/4

This 3.8 km east - south link with the Kielce - Częstochowa line is used by 3 pairs of trains marked in table 109 with a '<' at all stations between Żelisławice and Częstochowa and a timing at Katowice or Wroclaw. The Diversions in PL17/2 also use this connection.

====Psary – p.odg. Starzyny – Kozłów====
[100] (ERA182C3, ''F8'') PL17/5

This north - southeast link with the Koniecpol - Kozłów line is used by all trains using the CMK between Warszawa and Krakow with either a vertical bar '|' or a timing against Kozłów.

[105] (ERA188B4, ''R18'') PL17/8

No scheduled use in 2017 after all T105 services were diverted as above from 12 June until 3 September 2016. Note this would involve traversal of two lengthy sections with separate tracks at flying junctions either side of p.odg Dorota.

===Koniecpol – Kozłów (p.odg. Starzyny)===
[107, 109] (ERA182C3, ''F8'') PL17/9

This 11 km line reopened in the 2012 timetable. Used by services in Table 109 with a timing at Częstochowa/Częstochowa Stradom and Krakow not running via Kielce. Much increased use in 2017 with the closure of Dąbrowa Górnicza Ząbkowice to Jaworzno Szczakowa.

===Dęblin: Zajezierze k. Dęblina (p.odg. Wisła R2) – Zarzeka (p.odg. Wisła R1)===
[111/550] (ERA183C5, ''E10'') PL17/10

This west-to-south curve avoiding Dęblin is used by direct services between Radom and Lublin which appear in table 111 with a '<' symbol against Dęblin. Note no service due to engineering work between 12 June and at least 9 December 2017.

===[Radzice] – Wolanow - line 576 [Radom avoider] - Rozki - [Skarzysko-Kamienna])===
[100/113/110] (ERA183B5, ''F9'') PL17/10A

Very rare scheduled diversionary use. The journey planner and PDF show a route via this curve, but a traveller on IC13106 on 1 August advises it reversed in Radom station although other days were confirmed running as booked.

===[Łódź  –] Gałkówek – Mikołajów [– Tomaszów Mazowiecki]===
[114/601] (ERA177C1, ''E8'', ''R11'') PL17/11

There are two possible routes between Łódź and Tomaszów Mazowiecki avoiding Koluszki - a direct double track line from Gałkówek via Żakowice Płd to Mikołajów used by express services or single track Line 537 via Słotwiny and Żakowice Połudnowie. Use of both routes is suggested in 2017 PDFs as a number of PR services have calls at both Słotwiny and Żakowice Połudnowie.

===Tomaszów Mazowiecki – Spała===
[114] (ERA182C5, ''E8'') PL17/12

PR Łódź sponsored the first passenger service on this branch since 1988 from 2014 with in 2016 one pair SSuO between 9 July and 4 September but as they were Free with just 75 places it needed to be pre-booked via website www.inowlodz.pl. Timings were Łodz Kaliska depart 08:35 Spała 10:11, returning at 17:56 to Łodz Kaliska 19:36. In 2017 it is believed services ran only on "Harvest" weekend on 16/17 September with details  [https://polregio.pl/pl/dla-podroznych/informacje/polregio-oficjalnym-przewoznikiem-dozynek-prezydenckich-w-spale/ here]

===Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski – Sandomierz – Grębów===
[115] (ERA183B5-B5,C3, ''F10-G10'') PL17/13

A weekly train each way ran between September and December 2016. In 2017 there is a limited service, running only between Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski and Sandomierz; there is no service between Sandomierz and Grębów.

[120] (ERA171B5, ''R15'') PL17/15

Three pairs of IC's were confirmed as diverted onto this route on 31 July 2016 in addition to a possible ongoing workers' service to the closed PKP stations serving the steel works complex at Nowa Huta. The times below are from the 2008 working timetable and it should be noted that the evening and weekend services were worked by a track maintenance draisine with very limited capacity.

===<div id="PL12_11"></div>(Przemyśl Główny –) Hurko – Medyka (– Mostys'ka 2)===
[122] (ERA184B1, ''H12, R35'') PL17/18

There are three routes between these points; from south to north they are:
*Line 91, the 1435 mm gauge line into Ukraine, which terminates at Mostys'ka 1 in Ukraine.
This is used between Przemyśl Główny and Medyka by the local service shown in Table 122.
*Line 989, a 1435 mm gauge line through the marshalling yards, terminating at Medyka.
No passenger services use this line. Note that page H12 of the ''"Atlas Linii Kolejowych Polski"'' is incorrect in showing passenger stations on this line; the enlarged page R35 shows the situation correctly.
*Line 92, the 1520 mm gauge line into Ukraine.
This route is used by the daytime services between Kyiv/L'viv and Przemyśl Główny, operated by Ukrainian railways.
Prior to the current timetable Lines 91 and 92 were used by the overnight L'viv/Lvov services on alternate days, with either a manual gauge change at Przemyśl (with a longer stop here) or a gauge change at Mostys'ka 2 (with a relatively short stop at Przemyśl). The gauge change at Mostys'ka 2 is out of use as at October 2017 and the overnight service therefore always uses this line.

===Oświęcim avoiding curve: Oświęcim OwC1 - OwC===
[141/120] (ERA188C4, ''G7'') PL17/25

This north <=> east curve links the Mysłowice and Skawina lines. Used in the last couple of years by diverts from table 140 as indicated by < markers on table 140 at Kraków Glowny. Possibly some ran via this route in early 2017 but they did not have entries in the relevant PDF's so it cannot be certain they run this way. Also used by numerous 2016 Woodstock specials which had calls at stations on 141 and 149 but there are none scheduled in 2017. Entry listed below should have run as listed as it called at Mysłowice.

===Katowice – flyover departure line – Katowice Brynów (p.odg. Brynów)===
[146, 151] (ERA188B3, ''R17'') PL17/26

Westbound departures from Katowice platforms 1-4 towards Katowice Ligota can run either via the main line (line 139) or via a flyover (line 656) over the main line to Gliwice. From observation, all trains departing from platform 1 at Katowice appear to use this route.

[146, 147] (ERA188C3, ''H7'') PL17/27

The north-to-west curve avoiding Czechowice Dziedzice is used by all trains in table 146 and also trains to and from Katowice shown in table 147 with a '<' symbol against Czechowice Dziedzice.

===Chybie - p.odg Bieniowiec - [Skoczów])===
[146/147/148] (ERA182A1, ''H7'') PL17/27A

This east-to-south chord is in use as trains to/from Wisła Glebce appear in T147 with a timing at Chybie. There are numerous additional diversions between 6 -15 November with timings and trains varying frequently during this period.

[151/151a/155] (ERA182A1, ''H7'') PL17/27B

This line provides an alternative route, further west, between Katowice and Katowice Ligota. A considerable number of regional services (too many to list individually) are diverted by this route, between 15 and 30 July (mainly SSuO) and  between 1 and 10 August (SSuX). They can be identified by a < marker at Katowice-Brynów and an extended journey time of more than 30 minutes.

===Nędza Wieś – Kuźnia Raciborska (p.odg. Turze)===
[153/160 not shown but in 154] (ERA188B1, ''G6'') PL17/28

This east-to-north chord avoiding Nędza station is used by trains running direct between Kędzierzyn Koźle and Rybnik. Use was previously indicated by a '<' symbol in table 153 but they now only appear in tables 154, 160 and 220 so must travel via this curve. In 2016 there were also three pairs of Woodstock specials routed this way.

===Rybnik – Sumina===
[153 not shown/154/160] (ERA188B1, ''G6, H6'') PL17/29

There are two routes between Rybnik and Sumina: a direct line and a longer route via Rybnik Towarowy and Rydułtowy, used by all local services. Use of the direct line by TLK services was previously indicated by a '<' symbol against the intermediate stations in table 153, but these trains are now omitted from that table and appear only in tables 154/160 to/from 220. Therefore it can only be assumed they still travel the direct route, which should also use tracks avoiding Sumina station, although it seems highly likely. '''Reports would therefore be welcomed by the Compilers'''. Note that some local trains are diverted the direct route between 12 and 25 June 2017, as indicated by '<' symbols, although TLK services are still not shown. In 2017 this direct route is also probably used by one Woodstock special.

===Kędzierzyn Koźle – p.odg. Stare Koźle - Kędzierzyn Koźle Azoty===
[160] (ERA181C2 too detailed to be shown, ''R14'') PL17/31

There are three routes between Kędzierzyn Koźle and p.odg. Stare Koźle. From east to west they are:

1. Line 709. This line is the normal passenger route. The 4 km single track line flies over the curves to the Gliwice line and runs via a staff halt at the PKP depot to Peron (platform) 1. It resumed use as the normal route for PR local trains with the June 2016 timetable change and is used by all services other than those mentioned below.

2. Line 151 (northbound). From a travellers July 2017 observation, the train below uses a line diverging to the east at p.odg. Stare Koźle which goes underneath Lines 709 and 681 before running near to, then alongside southbound Line 151 on the west side of the yard. This line is not shown on the Maly Atlas.

3. Line 151 (southbound). This runs on the west side of the yard (Kędzierzyn Koźle KKD) up to 0.5 km away from Line 709. Services from Kędzierzyn Koźle Peron (platform) IV towards Rybnik and Racibórz must use this route. The following services are shown in the June 2017 departure sheets: R99520 (05:01), TLK84191 (06:42), R64301 (10:05), TLK54107 (11:30/11:32), R99431 (15:13), R64427 (17:07), IC14111 (20:00), TLK64101 (20:24) and PR 64435 (21:13).

===<div id="PL12_21"></div>Lubliniec – Paczyna===
[165] (ERA182A3, ''G6'') PL17/32

Reduced to one pair a day from June 2017 and these services are the only ones using a 36.5 km section of an otherwise freight only line which has a substantial grade separated junction at Lubliniec.

===<div id="PL12_21"></div>Gliwice - Bytom===
[166] (ERA188A2/A3, ''G7'' ''R16/17'') PL17/33

Regular scheduled use of this former local passenger service line has resumed and a PDF table reappeared from June 2017. Previous use was one short term TLK diversion during Winter 2015. Note that the junction at Bytom is east of the station

[175] (ERA182B3, ''R15'') PL17/34

This line enables trains between Wrocław/Opole and Warszawa (via the CMK) or Krakow [also using PL17/35] avoid reversing at Częstochowa Osobowa (the main station) by calling instead at Częstochowa Stradom. Use can be identified in table 175 by a > at Częstochowa.

===Częstochowa Stradom - Poraj===
[175,102] (ERA182B3; ''F7'' ''R15'') PL17/35

One 2016 Woodstock service from its booked station stops was identified in the Kostrzyn Peron sheets as scheduled to use either short curve Line 702 to/from Częstochowa Raków or via Line 155 and Częstochowa Mirów but the actual route taken is not known. None shown in information published for 2017.

===Lubliniec avoiding line: podg. Jawonica - podg. Droniowiczki===
[175] (ERA182A3, ''G6'') PL17/35A

This north <=> south connection links the Częstochowa line (line 61) with the Paczyna line (line 152). It is being used for services between Częstochowa and Wrocław diverted away from their normal route via Fosowskie. Travelers reported their trains reversing at Pyskowice where the doors were released whilst the locomotive ran round although it was not an advertised stop before or after running to Opole via Strzelce Opolskie.

Most trains between Ostrów Wielkopolski and Wrocław Główny take the direct route via the north to west curve (Dąbrowa Oleśnicka – Oleśnica Rataje – Borowa Oleśnica (p.odg. Reopening timings from 29 April were shown in early editions of the all year table 240 PDF footnotes but this did not commence. Then timings for a SSuO pair from the first day of the Autumn timetable on Sunday 3 September appeared in the PKP Journey planner but again this did not happen. Timings for a cross border service through to Mezimesti have now appeared in drafts for the 2017/18 Czech Railways timetable, but whether this will actually happen and from what date is not known.

[255] (ERA180B5, ''F2'') PL17/41

Indicated by a < next to Zgorzelec. Trains between Lubań Śląski and Węgliniec previously ran either via Zgorzelec to unusually reverse in service west of the station, [calling twice] or used this Zgorzelec avoiding line to run via Zgorzelec Miasto. From the 2015/16 timetable the limited trains via the above curve continue, but those calling at Zgorzelec were revised to double run across the border to Görlitz in Germany.

===Węgliniec - Bielawa Dolna - Horka Gbf [DB]===
[260] (ERA180B5, ''F2'') PL17/41A

Suggested in use again on 11/12 November 2017 due to engineering works on 270 near Legnica, but note the PKP JP still shows the eastbound running via Zagan, and has no data at all for the westbound services..... This followed use by the pair of SSuO Wroclaw - Berlin and vv services via this recently electrified and reopened freight cross border line to/from Cottbus on the weekends of 18/19 and 25/26 March 2017 and a PDF was issued showing in use again on dates in June, August and 2 September 2017. However a new PDF dated 10 August cancelled the later diversions so only in use on 17/18, 24/25 June.

=== Września avoiding line Gutowo Wlkp. (p.odg. Sokołowo Wrzesińskie) – Podstolice (Pd box)===
[300] (ERA176B3/C3, ''D5'') PL17/43

This east <=> west main line avoiding Września station is used by trains on table 300 shown as not calling at Września.

===Poznań Franowo===
[300/300a/398/430] (ERA180C1, ''R10&D4'') PL17/43

Poznań Franowo is a large marshalling yard and Depot on the south freight ring around Poznań. Extensive engineering work diversions ran from March 2007 until 2011 and since then the only timetabled use has been occasional overnight trains to/from Szczecin and Warszawa avoiding reversal en route, plus irregular Steam charters of complete circuits from Poznań Główny by [http://www.turkol.pl Turkol]. In 2017 these are scheduled for 18/2, 25/11 & 9/12/17.

Within the Franowo area any Turkol anticlockwise complete circuit services can take different routes, either Line 352 on the north side or Lines 823/824, a southside route from p.odg Pokrzywno and a flyover to p.odg Stary Młyn. Line 352 on the north side runs via platforms used by staff trains prior to their withdrawal in approx December 2006 and all westbound or clockwise Turkol charters must take this route. Some previous years Woodstock services also ran via Franowo with different approach/exit routes but all likely candidates in 2017 have timings or "|" markers at Poznań Główny.

===Poznań Gorczyn – Line 801 - Poznań Dębina - [Poznan Starołęka] ===
[300a] (ERA180C1, ''R10'') PL17/44

With T300 closed, there are numerous Woodstock specials listed to run via this route in 2017. Anyone wanting details should look at the [https://polregio.pl/media/5110/woodstock-2017-rozkład-jazdy-poc-do-publik21070072017.pdf Woodstock timetable] and look for calls at Poznan Starołęka instead of Poznan Glowny.

===Former Table 315: Częstochowa Aniołow/Herby Stare - Zduńska Wola Karsznice - Inowrocław/Bydgoszcz===

The previously scattered EGTRE entries for these over 250km long north - south lines and their numerous junctions have been grouped together from south to north. Additional entries have been created for 2017 showing the exact scheduled sections, which includes two very unusual curves.

All of the entries shown here have had local services, summer overnights or scheduled passenger use in recent years, but with none in 2015 or 2016. Partial use resumed in winter 2016/17, plus a diversion via a curve that may never have seen scheduled passenger services commenced in June 2017 for it is believed 18 months. Use is mainly identified from other tables even though a greatly revised 315 PDF covering from Inowroclaw to Kutno via Bydgoszcz and Torun was published in June 2017!

[315, 173, 175] (ERA182B4 to 177A5; ''D7,E7,F7'') PL17/46

Częstochowa Aniołow via Zduńska Wola to Inowroclaw was in use during the 2015 ski-ing and summer seasons and the June 2016 PDF showed a pair of Turkol operated Pilgrim specials on 15 August with < markers after Zdunska Wola on table 200. These must have used 315 but which option south of Chorzew Siemkowice is not known as they were not shown in 102 nor 175.

Note on 173 there is a significant grade separated junction at p.odg. Wyczerpy, where the lines remain apart and on significantly different vertical alignments for 3 km as far as Rząsawa.

On 315 there is a significant flying junction north of Herby Nowe with the southbound line from Chorzew Siemkowice climbing over the line from Kępno and the north and south tracks diverging by at least 1 km.

===Domanin (p.odg. Hanulin - Kępno (low level)- Wielun===
[320/322] (ERA181C1, ''F6'') PL17/55

Kępno is a two level station. The Poznań - Ostrów - Kluczbork line has high level platforms at right angles to the low level Herby Nowe line platforms. There are two connecting curves from 320 onto 322 but only the 1.8 km north-to-east outside curve (Line 812) connects the line from the Ostrów direction with the low level platforms, the other curve by-passes all platforms. The outside curve is used by any through services to/from Ostrów via Wieluń Dąbrowa calling at Kępno [which after a period of no service resumed from 25 June 2017] plus at present by all services that start or terminate at Kępno from the Ostrów direction even though pointwork means it is possible to reverse at the high level platforms. The huge increase in use of Low Level Peron 1 or 2 from early 2016 continues with departures from Kępno at 05:39, 07:44 SSuX, 09:38, 11:42 SSuX, 13:44, 17:30 SSuO & 19:56 and arrivals at 07:19 SSux, 08:34, 11:16 SSuX, 13:20, 15:20 SSuO, 16:29 SSuX, 19:20 and 21:25.

===Kępno avoiding curve to/from Wielun===
[320/322] (ERA181C1, ''F6'') PL17/55A

The PDF's for the period 3 September - 14 October 2017 show a pair of daytime TLK's running via 322 with a > marker at Kępno indicating use of the avoiding curve and a traveller on the southbound service confirmed it ran this way.

[321] (ERA176C3, ''D5'') PL17/56

No service ran this way in 2016 despite 430 PDF markers [IC5324 ran via a call at Poznan Glowny]. Sources suggested this and onwards to Jarocin may reopen but no details are yet shown in the PDFs.

===Jarocin east side – Golina (– Krotoszyn)===
[321] (ERA176B2 not shown, ''E5'') PL17/57

Any trains from the east side of Jarocin station (Peron III) use a line on the opposite side of the marshalling yard and Depot south of the station from the main line, but no current use as all Table 321 services are to/from Poznań Głowny via platforms I and II on the west side of Jarocin station and connecting line 826.

===Sulechów (podg Czerwieńsk Wsch.) – Czerwieńsk – Przylep (podg Czerwieńsk Płd.)===
[334, 355] (ERA175B2 partially shown, ''E2'' partially shown) PL17/58

Almost all trains between Zielona Góra and Sulechów (- Zbąszynek) avoid Czerwieńsk by the south <=> east avoiding curve (podg Czerwieńsk Południe - podg Czerwieńsk Wschodnia) opened on 9 June 2013. The following through services between Zielona Góra and Zbąszynek via Czerwieńsk are the only ones still using the line from the avoiding curve east junction to Czerwieńsk station, which crosses underneath the Zielona Góra line to the east of the two-sided Czerwieńsk station. The trains also reverse in the south side platforms and use a significant connection to the Zielona Góra line at the east end of the station.

===Piła - Piła Towarowa - podg Piła Północ===
[340/365] (ERA176A5, ''C4'') PL17/59

There are two routes for tables 340 & 365 leaving the west end of Piła Głowny.  The usual line 405 used by passenger trains veers to the south and then crosses the line towards Krzyż on a bridge.  The separate normally freight-only line 999 on the north side passes though the freight yard and takes a ground level direct route to Piła Północ, the junction for the Walcz and Szczecinek routes. Only reachable to/from Piła's northerly platforms 5 and 6 this has seen limited use if another service is booked over the section from Piła Północ at the same time as both routes are single track. No use scheduled since at least March 2017.

===Gorzów Wielkopolski===
[334/345] (ERA175B4 not shown, ''D2'') PL17/60

Each line uses separate parts of the station, passengers walking between them by subway. Any trains to/from the Międzyrzecz line platforms onto 345 use a lengthy connection of over 1 km to the west and since the April 2017 engineering work closure between Gorzów Wielkopolski Wschodni and the main station, some but not all of the shuttles to/from Kosztryn are locomotive hauled and these have been noted using the Międzyrzecz platforms as running round is easier there. There had been no scheduled PKP services using this connection since 2010 and since then it was only used by a few [http://www.turkol.pl Turkol] Charters.

===Rzepin avoiding line: Jerzmanice Lubuskie – Drzeńsko (podg. Drzeńsko)===
[355] (ERA175A3, ''D1'') PL17/61

In use again between 7 March 2017 to 28 July 2017, initially with all trains to/from Zielona Góra to/from Rzepin and Szczecin reversing at Drzeńsko if calling or starting from Rzepin, but with the June PDF's services are simply not calling! Use had resumed in 2016 by a pair of Summer overnights, plus again by bridge work diversions between 5 September and 29th October 2016 and as overnights are again booked in 2017, these are shown below.

===Rzepin: Connection from Frankfurt (Oder) to Zielona Góra line===
[355, 300, M103] (ERA175A3 not shown, ''D1'' not shown) PL17/62

Rzepin is a two sided station with Frankfurt (Oder) to Poznań services using the north platforms and Szczecin to Zielona Góra services the southern platform. There are connections at each end of the station and the one between the Frankfurt (Oder) and Zielona Góra lines at the west end of the yard is a 0.5km link line as shown on the map below. The short eastern connection is used by numerous Woodstock specials.

===Szczecin Główny eastern approaches===
[361] (ERA170B4, ''R1'') PL17/63

There are two alternative routes from Szczecin Zdroje (p.odg. Regalica) to Szczecin Główny. The shorter northern route runs via Szczecin Port Centralny station into the northern end of Szczecin Główny, and the longer southern route via p.odg. Dziewoklicz and p.odg. Szczecin Wstowo into the southern end of Szczecin Główny. Most IC services and a few PR services take the southern route and may be identified by a '<' symbol against Szczecin Port Centralny.

===Szczecin Główny western approaches===
[368, 369] (ERA170B4, ''R1'') PL17/64

There are three possible routes from Szczecin Gumieńce to/from Szczecin Główny. From north to south these are: (a) a single track line via Szczecin Wzgórze Hetmańskie and Szczecin Pomorzany, (b) the usual single track direct line and (c) the double track southern loop via p.odg. Szczecin Wstowo - p.odg. Dziewoklicz - Szczecin Port Centralny.
Two reports advised the direct route to Gumieńce was closed due to engineering work in mid July 2017 and their services were diverted via Szczecin Wzgórze Hetmańskie but this work has apparently ended as no extra minutes are allowed for any services in the PDFs issued after 2 September 2017.

===Szczecin Podjucy - Szczecin Zdroje===
[366, plus 361] (ERA170B4, R1) PL17/65

Use of this curve by limited dated services continues as listed in the PDF footnotes, assumed to retain crew knowledge in case the substantial bridge over the River Odra is unavailable plus a regular overnight. Note these services may reverse at Szczecin Zdroje or Szczecin Dąbie.  A number of inbound to Kostrzyn Woodstock specials in late July/early August should also take this curve as they do not call at Szczecin Główny but they do not appear in Table 366. Look at the [https://portalpasazera.pl/Plakaty Kostrzyn arrival sheets] for further details. New for 2017 was use by a pair of Summer overnights

=== Szczecin Dąbie avoider===
[370, 360] (ERA170C4, R1) PL17/66

No Scheduled use in 2017 except the southbound returning [http://www.turkol.pl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=7&Itemid=3 Turkol] special “Katamaran” on 25 June 2017.

===Kołobrzeg Port===
[off 375] (ERA170C3, ''B2'') PL17/67

A normally freight-only branch which passes through the city streets to terminate on the Quayside adjacent to the Lighthouse. The annual Poznań Główny - Kołobrzeg "Pirat" steam excursion resumed running to the Port some years ago, joined from 2012 by a Diesel hauled excursion "Katamaran".  The 2017 dates were 27/28 May and 25 June respectively but the Katamaran seemingly had an issue with the date as it is being rescheduled for the 10th or 17th September. Details on the [http://www.turkol.pl Turkol website].

=== Rogoźno Wielkopolskie - Wągrowiec===
[395] (ERA176B4, ''D4'') PL17/68

A former freight-only line which reopened to passengers between 1/6/2011 and 28/2/12 [Wiki] when table 390 services between Wągrowiec and Poznań Wschód were diverted due to engineering works. [http://www.turkol.pl Turkol] charters are shown to use this route on 4 June and 11 November 2017.

===Iława===
[400/405/500] (ERA172B1, ''B8'') PL17/69

There are two routes between Iława station and Działdowo, the Malbork – Warszawa main line diving under the Toruń – Olsztyn line from the north side, plus Line 968, a curve from the south side platform also serving a freight yard. Trackwork means trains to/from Działdowo booked at platform 3 cannot reach the diveunder line so these must use line 968. Much increased use in the 2017 Station departure sheets.

It should be noted in addition to the above that departures from Iława Peron 1 & 2 can also reach Line 968 but the regular non-conflicting route for Malbork - Iława - Działdowo services is the diveunder. Additionally all Olsztyn - Iława - Malbork services use connections at the Olsztyn end of the station to cross to the north side platforms. Click on the thumbnail for a full size map.

===Prabuty - Kwidzyn===
[415] (ERA172B1, ''B7'') PL17/70

One train using this line appeared in the annual PDF's for table 400 but was believed to have been cancelled. This 33km freight only line 218 had been used for limited diversions during 2014.

===Toruń Główny – podg Nieszawka (Suchatówka)===
[405] (ERA177A4, ''R3'') PL17/71

There are two routes: the more northerly via Toruń Towarowy yard climbs over the Bydgoszcz line whereas the alternative passes through Toruń Kluczyki station. Trains calling at Toruń Kluczyki (all PR services) must use the southerly route. TLK services, which have a "<" marker against Toruń Kluczyki, are booked to take the northerly route but in practice may use either.
===Lipusz - Bytów===
[424] (ERA171C2/C1, ''B5'') PL17/71A

For the second year Private operator SKPL is running 3 pairs on this 24km branch [PKP Line 212] on Saturdays and Sundays 1 July to 24 September 2017 plus on 14 and 15 August 2017. Timetables at their [http://shortlines.pl/ website] but only found by slowly scrolling down the relevant page....

===Czersk - Bąk - Kościerzyna===
[429] (ERA171C2, ''B6'') PL17/72

This 42km line was used by a Summer overnight passenger service in 2016 but no scheduled service in 2017. The [http://www.turkol.pl Turkol website] is showing a steam excursion travelling this route on 9 April 2017 departing Czerk at 15:33.

===Lipowa Tucholska - Bąk - Kościerzyna===
[429] (ERA171C2, ''B6'') PL17/73

This route overlaps with PL17/72 between Bąk and Kościerzyna. No use in 2016 but the [http://www.turkol.pl Turkol website] shows a steam excursion travelling this route on 11 April 2017 departing Kościerzyna at 09:30

===Tczew - Rokitki Tczewskie (podg Malinowo) via line 727===
[426] (ERA172A2, ''R2'') PL17/74

There are two alternative routes approaching Tczew from the Chojnice line: the double track main line, which runs on a lengthy embankment to fly over the Gdansk lines to the east side of Tczew station, and a single track at ground level (line 727) to the west side. All platforms can be reached by arrivals from line 727 so it is not possible to know what route they take but departures from platforms 1 & 2 must use line 727.  Indicated use by the Peron sheets recommenced on 26 April 2015 and continues into 2017.

=== Gdańsk Wrzeszcz===
[442,443] (ERA172B4, ''R2'' not shown) PL17/76

A flyover has been built as part of the reinstated junction for the new services via Gdańsk Port Lotniczy which should be used by the limited through services from Gdańsk Główny. Note crossovers also allow use of the non-flyover route but any departure or arrival using Peron II is more likely to use the flyover.

===Gdynia Stocznia===
[450/451 & 452] (ERA172B4 not shown, ''R2'') PL17/77

The SKM local and main lines take separate routes with Gdynia Stocznia station on an elevated section flying over freight lines leading into the docks.

===Gdynia Główny – Rumia via line 202===

[450/451/452] (ERA172B4 not shown, R2) PL17/78

1. All local services plus northbound main line services run on the north side of Cisowa EMU Depot, only towards Gdynia Main Line services run on the south side as per the second diagram.
2. If a main line service is on the local lines approaching Gdynia Główny, mainly those from Hel in previous years, it would use a separate connection from the north side lines to link in with routes from Gdynia Docks and cross under the SKM lines between Gdynia Grabówek and Gdynia Glówna. Likewise for Main Line Departures onto line 202. These normally use the higher numbered platforms at Gdynia Glówna but there are crossovers allowing access to/from the lower numbered platforms so none can be listed although the Summer 2017 PDF's have < markers against a number of inbound to Gdynia services suggesting these would use this alternative route. '''Reports of use would be welcomed by the Compilers'''.

===Żuławskiej Kolei Dojazdowej===
[457] (ERA172B3, ''A7 not shown correctly'') PL17/79

This system worked by the Pomorskie Towarzystwo Miłośników Kolei Żelaznych (PTMKŻ) is a preserved ex PKP narrow gauge line from Nowy Dwor Gdanski to Sztutowo and Prawy Brzeg Wisły.

====Stegna Gdanska====
This is a triangular station with platforms on all three sides. For the first time since 2013 there are services scheduled to use the south to east curve towards Sztutowo but only on [https://kolejzulawska.pl/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/RJ_%c5%bbKD_DODATKOWY_MAJ-2017.pdf 13/14 May 2017]. Operating days on the rest of the system are weekends and bank Holidays from 29 April and Daily from 24 June to 2 September as per the [https://kolejzulawska.pl/rozklad-jazdy/ Timetable linked from the PTMKŻ website].

====Sztutowo====
If travelling to/from Sztutowo on either a loco hauled train or a railcar towing trailers it will reverse around a triangle on arrival or departure from Sztutowo as there is no run round loop.

To date only the through DMU Kaunas - Bialystok service has resumed north of Suwalki so this headshunt sees no current passenger use.

[550/613] (ERA178B2, ''D10&E10'') PL17/81

No service from 11 June 2017 as a consequence of the engineering work closure between Dęblin and Łuków. Part of a ring freight route round the east side of Warszawa, this north-to-south line provides a link between the Lublin and Terespol lines, and is used as the main route for fast trains between Warsawa Wschodnia and Pilawa due to capacity limitations on the single track line via Otwock. Trains are marked with a wavy line on table 550 at Otwock.

===Chelm – Dorohusk – Jagodin (Ukraine)===
[550/M401] (ERA184C5, ''F13'') PL17/81A

Local services between Chelm and Dorohusk were withdrawn at the timetable change in December 2015, leaving only the  the overnight service between Warszawa and Kiev. This was cut back to run only between Chelm and Kiev whilst long term engineering work is in progress west of Lublin, but has now been reinstated as a through train. Ukrainian Railways introduced a service between Kovel and Chelm from 12 June 2017, which was extended to/from Zdolbuniv (Ukraine) from 24 August 2017.

The Kovel/Zdolbuniv service uses the 1520 mm gauge track between Dorohusk and Chelm as it is operated by a UZ unit. Despite the impression given in the PKP PDFs of separate services and a change required at Chelm, the Chelm Departure sheets confirms the Kiev services use a 1435 mm gauge track there so is through coaches and changes gauge at Yagodin.

===Łuków - Parczew Kolejowa - [Lublin]===
[551a] (ERA179A1, ''E11/12'') PL17/81B

This 52km section reopened on 11 June 2017 for diversions of Warsaw - Lublin services as part of the usual main line via Dęblin is closed for long term engineering works. This is expected to last until at least the December 2017 timetable change.

===Dęblin – Stawy===
[553] (ERA178C1, ''E11'') PL17/82

There are two passenger routes from Stawy, which connect the Łuków line to the north and south ends of Dęblin station, forming a balloon loop. However, only the line at the north end line is shown in the Quail map. The normal mode of operation is for trains from Łuków to Dęblin to arrive at Dęblin using the southern route, even if they are continuing south and need to reverse in order to do so. Trains from Dęblin to Łuków use the northern route.

===Chełm - Włodawa===
[558] (ERA185B5/C5, ''E13/F13'') PL17/83

This otherwise freight only branch has had a sponsored summer weekend only service in recent years. 2017 dates and timings are SSuO between 3 June and 27 August with departures from Chełm at 07:38 and 16:23 and from Włodawą at 11.32 and 18.29.

===(Koluszki –) Bedoń – Łódź Widzew ''or'' Łódź Olechów – Łódź Chojny (– Łódź Kaliska)===
[601] (ERA177B1, ''R11'') PL17/84

There are two routes between Bedoń and Łódź Chojny: a northerly route via Łódź Widzew or a southerly route via Łódź Olechów. Services running via Łódź Olechów could be identified in the table 601 PDF by either a footnote advising of a call at Łódź Olechów Wschód or a < marker against Łódź Widzew plus a timing or | at Łódź Chojny and/or Łódź Kaliska but there are none in 2017.

===Gałkówek – Żakowice Południowe – p.odg. Zieleń – Koluszki===
[601, 114] (ERA177C1, ''R11'') PL17/86

The majority of Łodz to Koluszki services are scheduled to run direct on the main line from Gałkówek via Żakowice station to the west side platforms at Koluszki. Any trains via this alternative route call at Żakowice Południowe on line 537 and part of PL17/11 and then line 535 to cross over the Częstochowa main line to/from the east side platforms at Koluszki. They were identified by either a * against Żakowice, a Timetable footnote or by partial entries in the PDF Table 114. Use of line 535 ended on 15 October 2015 but resumed on limited dates in 2017 as per footnotes and a < marker at Żakowice. There is no use of this route shown in the October 2017 PDFs.

===<div id="PL11_70.1"></div> Warszawa Zachodnia - [Line 46] - Line 20 - Warszawa Główna Towarowa - Warszawa Gołąbki===
[606] (ERA174B5, ''R7'') PL17/90A

Despite KM reissuing their Lowicz PDF with | markers showing services running non-stop via the usual route, travellers on 4th and 10th August confirm diversions continue as one track through Warszawa Włochy is completely removed so the eastbound main line is unavailable. '''Other reports from travellers would be appreciated by the Compilers.''' The KM PDF from 3 September unhelpfully had a note translating as "train traffic on Warsaw - Warsaw Gołąbki section will be rotated one after another"..... but the PKP PDF commencing 9 October 2017 shows diversions that commenced on 4 July 2017 continuing as many services have < markers at Warszawa Ursus Północny. These are numerous and almost exclusively TLK's except five inbound KM services that can be joined at Ożarów Mazowiecki which is in Warsaw Zone 2.

From journeys taken in August, use of Route 20 through Odolany both ways is confirmed but inbound and outbound services use alternative routes between Warszawa Zachodnia and Warszawa-Czyste. Westbound services with a < marker at Warszawa Ursus Północny plus calls at Warszawa Centralna [i.e. not on the local lines through Warszawa-Srodmiescie] should use an unnumbered line on the north side from Warszawa Zachodnia Peron 7 to Warszawa-Czyste to join line 20 whereas towards Warsaw services should run via line 20, Warszawa-Czyste and line 46 underneath the normal main line to reach the eastbound platforms at Warszawa Zachodnia. Either route is a 7km diversion.

Revision as of 23:45, 8 May 2019

Introduction

PKP now releases PDFs for both part and all of the current timetable year so this list is based on those for the period 9 December 2018 to 14 December 2019 which suggested unusual lines use commencing later in 2019. Travellers are strongly advised to check the Journey Planners for ALL Unusual lines timings as revised PDFs are issued on a regular basis.

In 2016 a number of one off specials were included in the full year PDFs but this has not occurred since. These were mainly frequent excursions run by Turkol (Turystyka Kolejowa.

There are also special services via unusual routes run by PKP-PR for the Woodstock Festival Poland (Przystanek Woodstock), the largest Free annual music festival in Europe near Kostrzyn attended by over 600,000 people and usually held in early August. Note these trains require special tickets; normal PKP tickets are not valid and details of the 2018 services appeared only when the Summer PDFs were released.

Standard abbreviations used are explained in General Information. Map references to pages in the "Mały Atlas Linii Kolejowych Polski 2011", ISBN 978-83-931006-3-7, published by Wydawnictwo Eurosprinter, are shown in italics eg R14.

For details of recent and near future route openings and closures, please refer to Poland - General Information.

Corridor Trains

The following sections of line within Poland can be ridden only in the through (corridor) trains of neighbouring administrations:

  • (Hagenwerder [Germany] -) frontier - Ręcszyn - (- Krzewina Zgorzelecka -) Trzciniec Zgorzelecki - frontier (- Hirschfelde [Germany]) (36A2): DB table 220. The section between Ręcszyn and Trzciniec Zgorzelecki is traversed only by trains on DB table 220 (Zittau - Görlitz, presently operated by Connex/Lausitzbahn) as PKP trains on table 260 were withdrawn with the 2000/01 timetable.
  • (Zittau [Germany] -) frontier - frontier (- Hrádek nad Nisou [Czech Republic]) (36A2): ČD table 089. There are no stations in Poland on this line.
  • Głuchołazy - frontier (- Jindřichov ve Slezsku [Czech Republic]) (37A1): Through Krnov – Jesenik trains on ČD table 292 use PKP tracks in and out of Głuchołazy as there is no triangle here and the approximately 13km of PKP tracks east of Głuchołazy are only traversed by ČD services. From 10 December 2006 ČD services call to set down and pick up at Głuchołazy.
