Introduction

This list is based on the timetable dated from 10 December 2017 – 8 December 2018 (Graphical timetable TRV T18) and the public timetables (available from resrobot.se during the validity of the graphical timetable) unless otherwise shown. It is recommended that the instructions in Sweden - General Information are followed for details on how to obtain relevant timetables. Standard abbreviations used are explained in General Information. document.

Map references for each route entry are given in parentheses ( ). References prefixed "ERA" refer to the European Railway Atlas Nordic Region, Regional Series 2016, by M.G.Ball.

Obscure services

Ånge – Bräcke (Moradal) (via Ångebyn)

[40(only when infrastructure work)/42/44] (ERA 4A1) SE18/1

Available as an alternative to the north line, which is single track between Ånge station and Moradal. When trains are scheduled to cross within 6/7 minutes of Ånge, one would use this route - subject to punctual running of both trains.

D{1} SuO 7526 Sundsvall C – 21:32 Ånge – Östersund V

Notes: {1}: See public timetable 42 for dates and exceptions;

Stockholm Syd Flemingsberg – Järna (Järna Jn.)

[60/61/80/81/114/115] (ERA 9B2 or 11A1-11A2) SE18/2

Main line trains use the new (1995) Grödinge line, while local services use the former main line between these points. Trains for the Eskilstuna line also use the Grödinge line, between Stockholm and Södertälje Syd.

Mora (Morastrand) – Oxberg

(ERA 8C4) SE18/3

This line has no regular passenger service but in recent years a special train has run between Mora and Oxberg in conjunction with a skiing event (see Vasaloppet or Snälltåget) on or near the last weekend in February. In 2018 Snälltåget (Transdev) operates a train 23 February at 22.00 from Stockholm C to Oxberg. But beware - this train is open to participants only in this ladies only skiing event.

Gävle Central – Gävle Sveriges Järnvägsmuseum

(ERA 9B3, not shown) SE18/4

A short electrified branch provides access to the railway museum. Working involves reversal at Gävle C (or use of the freight only Gävle C avoiding line) for trains from the south, then a shunt move to/from the museum. When specials from Stockholm and Uppsala operate, normally on one or two weekends in the autumn, details should be available on the Museum website when known. Look for headline "Årgångståget". The museum will be closed due to rebuilding for at least 18 months from 10 September 2017.

Järna – Norrköping (Åby)

[80/81] (ERA 9A1-9B1) SE18/5

Trains between Stockholm and Norrköping with no booked stops between Södertälje Syd and Norrköping usually run via Katrineholm. This is faster than the shorter route through Nyköping and is also double track throughout.

Grängesberg – Ställdalen (via Silverhöjden)

[53, 75] (ERA 9A2-9A3) SE18/6

The former TGOJ line, which parallels the normal ex-BJ line, is available as an extended passing loop. It still has CTC, but the maximum speed is reduced. It can be used to avoid delays when crossing another train, subject to punctual running of both trains. Routing may be altered for operational convenience.

Vännäs - Umeå (including north and south chords at Vännäs)

[35,40] (ERA 4B3-4C3) SE18/7

The north chord is used by night trains between Boden and the south seen in public timetable 40 calling at Umeå C, and trains not calling at Vännäs in table 35. Table 35 trains calling at Vännäs use the south chord.

Vännäs – Vindeln (Vännäs north Jn)

[35,40] (ERA2 4B3) SE18/8

This section of the main line allows direct running between Boden and the south. It is now only used by trains in timetable 35 calling at Vännäs. However, it can also be used by a night train not calling at Umeå C, when rerouted due to infrastructure work.

Nyköping Södra/Jönåker/Stigtomta/Vrena – Oxelösund

(ERA 9B1) SE18/9

On one Saturday early in May each year (2018 date 12 May), Grängesbergsbanornas Järnvägsmuseum (GBBJ), now in co-operation with Föreningen Sörmlands Veteranjärnväg (FSVJ) can be expected to run a special veteran train shuttle service for a street fair at Oxelösund ("Oxelösund marknad"). Visit website www.gbbj.nu or www.fsvj.se or Visit Oxelösund nearer the time for details. Note: Nyköping Södra is almost opposite the bus station.

In conjunction with this, the empty stock is moved from Grängesberg museum on the Friday and returns on the Sunday, using the following freight lines: Lindesberg (Frövi north jn.) – Valskog (Jädersbruk jn.), Mellösa (Flens övre jn.) – Nyköping – Oxelösund and route SE18/6. GBBJ have been prepared to carry passengers by prior arrangement - contact the Society well in advance, using this e-mail address.

Bollnäs (Ovansjö) – Bräcke (Moradal) (via Ångebyn)

[40/41/42/44] (ERA 4A1) SE18/10

A freight line, which is a short-cut just west of Ånge bypassing Ånge and Ånge yard.

File:Malmo3.jpg

  • (1) Malmö C – Hyllie – Svågertorp – Lockarp West Jn – Lockarp East Jn

Used by all Malmö C – Ystad/Simrishamn trains except those listed in (2) below.

  • (2) Malmö C – Fosieby – Lockarp North Jn – Lockarp East Jn

Used by trains in table 107 shown as non stop between Malmö C and Oxie. These trains use the terminal section of Malmö C station and are routed this way to facilitate single line working between Malmö C and Hyllie for scheduled maintenance.

D{1} FSX 1580 Simrishamn – 23:05 Oxie – Helsingborg C
D{1} FSX 1581 Helsingborg C – 23:43 Malmö C – Ystad

D{1}: See public timetable 107 for exceptions.

  • (3) Malmö C – Hyllie – Svågertorp – Lockarp West Jn – Lockarp South Jn

Used by all trains to and from Trelleborg except those listed in (4) below.

  • (4) Malmö C – Fosieby – Lockarp North Jn – Lockarp South Jn

These trains use the terminal section of Malmö C station and are routed this way to facilitate single line working between Malmö C and Hyllie for scheduled maintenance.

D{1} FSX 11787 Kävlinge – 23:26 Malmö C– Trelleborg C
D{1} FSX 11788 Trelleborg C – 22:49 V Ingelstad – Malmö C/Kävlinge

D{1}: See public timetable 108 for exceptions.

Note: This route is also used by the Snälltåget Berlin overnight trains en route to/from Trelleborg F. See (7) below.

  • (5) Lernacken – Svågertorp

No scheduled passenger trains have used this route since the direct København H – Ystad trains eased to operate.

  • (6) Svågertorp (Lockarp West) – Fosieby (Lockarp North)

No passenger traffic until the "Malmö circle” starts, when some trains currently terminating at Hyllie would continue via Svågertorp, thus restoring more regular passenger service to the line via Östervärn to/from the terminal section of Malmö C. The date is not yet confirmed, as at least one new station close to the Rosengård area is to be built. However, if an SJ X2000 bound for København H arrives at the terminal section of Malmö C in reverse order, it will probably be routed via Fosieby – Svågertorp in order to be the right way round on arrival at København H.

  • (7) Trelleborg F (Färjestation)

This line to the train ferry berth diverges to the south from the line to Trelleborg C. There is a platform (Trelleborg Färjestation) just north of the ferry berth.

It is used only by the Snälltåget Berlin overnight trains, which also use the terminal section of Malmö C station. See the Snälltåget website. Prospective passengers are recommended to view the Swedish language page as well, in case the English language page is not complete.
