Introduction
This list is based on the timetable which comes into force on 8 December, 2019.. The LDz internal timetable does not use table numbers. Standard abbreviations are explained in General Information.
Map references for each route entry are given in parentheses ( ). References prefixed "ERA-E" refer to the European Railway Atlas (All-Europe Edition) by M.G. Ball. References prefixed "ERA-R" refer to the European Railway Atlas (Regional Series - The Baltic States, Belarus and Ukraine) by M.G. Ball.
Obscure services
Rīga pasažieru — Vagonu Parks/Vagonnyi Park (— Jāņavārti)
(ERA-E 114C3, not shown; ERA-R 251C2, not shown) LV21/1
All-stations electric suburban services in both directions, and also a very limited number of longer distance DMU services, deviate from the double track main line and run to the south of carriage sidings and an EMU depot. They use a single track line and call at Vagonu Parks/Vagonnyi Park station. These frequent services run every day and can be easily identified in the Riga - Ogre and Lielvārde timetable.
Jelgava — Meitene — Šarkiai (Lithuania) — Šiauliai
(ERA-E 115A3; ERA-R 253B1-C1) LV21/2
Ukrainian Railways operated a seasonal train between Kiev/Kyiv and Riga. However this was suspended with effect from 15 March 2020, as Latvia cancelled all international travel.
D1 | 31 | Kiev/Kyiv - 05:51 Šiauliai - Riga Pass
D2 | 32 | 19:40 Riga Pass - Kiev/Kyiv |
D1: Runs every 4 days. Use the journey planner to determine which dates the train runs. Note that the train is one day later from Šiauliai.
D2: Runs every 4 days. Use the journey planner to determine which dates the train runs.
Other sparse services
The following lines have a limited service of fewer than two trains a day each way or do not run every day:
Pļaviņas - Madona | One train FSuO to Madona; SSuO from Madona
(Pļaviņas -) Madona - Gulbene | Trains ran to Gulbene only 2 or 3 times in 2018 and 2019 and probably not at all in 2020. No information yet available on when trains may run in 2021.
(Jelgava -) Dobele - Liepāja | Twice weekly: FSO to Liepāja; SSuO from Liepāja
Zilupe - Sebezh (Russia) | Once daily to/from Moskva/St Peterburg but suspended since 15 March 2020.
Daugavpils - Indra - [Bihosava (Belarus)] | Every 4 days to/from Minsk. See the International Timetable page to determine which dates the train runs. Suspended since 15 March 2020. |
