Introduction

This list is based on the timetable in force from 17 October 2021, the latest available. Standard abbreviations are explained in General Information.

Map references for each route entry are given in parentheses ( ). References prefixed "ERA-E" refer to the European Railway Atlas (All-Europe Edition) by M.G. Ball. References prefixed "ERA-R" refer to the European Railway Atlas (Regional Series - The Baltic States, Belarus and Ukraine) by M.G. Ball.

Obscure services

Rīga pasažieru — Vagonu Parks/Vagonnyi Park (— Jāņavārti)

(ERA-E 114C3, not shown; ERA-R 251C2, not shown) LV23/1

All-stations electric suburban services in both directions, and also a very limited number of longer distance DMU services, deviate from the double track main line and run to the south of carriage sidings and an EMU depot. They use a single track line and call at Vagonu Parks/Vagonnyi Park station. These frequent services run every day and can be easily identified in the Riga - Ogre and Lielvārde timetable.

Other sparse services

The following lines have a limited service of fewer than three trains a day each way or do not run every day:

Valmiera - Valga Two trains a day
Rēzekne - Zilupe Two trains a day
Pļaviņas - Madona - Gulbene In 2023 one train a day SSuX to/from Madona; one pair of trains SSuO to/from Gulbene, plus one outbound FO, providing a second service to Riga SO.
(Jelgava -) Dobele - Liepāja At least in August 2023, Daily: 2nd pair SuO
Daugavpils - Indra Daugavpils - Krāslava once a day; Krāslava - Indra ThFO out and FSO back.

Deletions since previous edition

LV22/2 Jelgava — Meitene — Šarkiai (Lithuania) — Šiauliai The Ukrainian Railways seasonal train between Kiev/Kyiv and Riga has not run since 15 March 2020. Owing to the war in Ukraine it is highly unlikely that it will run in the foreseeable future
Zilupe - Sebezh (Russia) The international service to/from Moskva/St Peterburg has been suspended since 15 March 2020 and will clearly not resume.
Indra - [Bihosava (Belarus)] The international service to/from Minsk has been suspended since 15 March 2020 and will clearly not resume.
