Language
The official language is German. Most citizens speak a dialect that is highly divergent from Standard German but closely related to those dialects spoken in the neighbouring regions of Switzerland and Austria. However, the resident population is about one third foreign-born - primarily German speakers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland but also non-German speaking Swiss, Italians, and Turks.

The line between Nendeln in Liechtenstein and Tisis in Austria is to be doubled in connection with the introduction of a tri-national S-Bahn Liechtenstein service between Feldkirch and Buchs.
Special notes
There are three stations in Liechtenstein, served by irregular local trains between Feldkirch and Buchs. However, main line services do not call at these stations.
