LG closed this border crossing from 16 February 2023 due to alleged smuggling of goods to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad with Lithuanian customs officials advising this decision was linked to the lack of x-ray systems at the border. Previously the LG internal passenger service had been extended to a new (re-sited) Stasylos station, 1.3 km north of the former Šalčininkai halt and 5.5 km from the border from 5 December 2011 but this was withdrawn on 1 January 2015.
