Revision as of 14:11, 17 December 2014

This list is based on the timetable in force from 10 December 2023. Although the timetable is shown as valid until 8 June 2024, most long-distance services are shown as operating only until March. Such trains are not indicated by note 'D' (for a service only running on certain dates), because it is a reasonable expectation that their period of operation will be extended or a similar service is provided instead. It is assumed that the timetable will continue to be updated and reissued regularly, as has been the case since summer 2020. Users are recommended to check the Trenitalia website to ensure they are using the latest version of the timetable.

Table numbers quoted here are from In Treno Tutt'Italia, the official Trenitalia timetable. Standard abbreviations are explained here.

Map references for each route entry are given in parentheses ( ). References prefixed "ERA-E" refer to the European Railway Atlas (All-Europe Edition) by M.G. Ball. References prefixed "ERA-R" refer to the European Railway Atlas (Regional Series: Book 2) by M.G. Ball. References prefixed "S+W", or in italic, refer to Atlante ferroviaro d'Italia e Slovenia by Schweers + Wall.

Two useful symbols exist which show the booked route for trains not calling at a station: in the middle of the train column, a vertical bar "|" means that the train passes through the station without stopping, whereas a middle dot "·" means that the train does not pass through that station but instead takes a different route.

Nuovo Salario (Bivio Nuovo Salario) – Roma Tuscolana (Bivio Tiburtina)

[M70] (52A1 not shown, 149C1-149D2) IT14/125

Local trains between Nuovo Salario and Roma Tuscolana use the “Locale Bassa” line. This branches off the old main line south of Nuovo Salario station, crosses over the direttissima, passes through the western (low numbered) platforms at Roma Tiburtina, goes under the lines to Roma Termini and rejoins the old main line at Bivio Tiburtina. Passenger use of the section of the old main line south of Bivio Nuovo Salario as far as Doppio Bivio Nomentana, where the direttissima converges, is confined to trains between Roma Tiburtina and Nuovo Salario calling at Val D'Ala.

Civitavecchia – Civitavecchia Marittima

(52A3 not shown, 68A1) IT14/126

This line diverges to the east about 2 km north of Civitavecchia and turns through 180 degrees to head back under the main line, running south into the port area. The line which previously ran direct to Marittima from south of Civitavecchia station and carried a public passenger service is now closed to all traffic.

The diesel railcar "Roma Express" is operated by Seatrain Tours between Civitavecchia Marittima and Roma S Pietro (the TrenItalia station, not the Vatican) as part of a guided day trip for cruise passengers. It is understood the train is available only to cruise passengers. There is also a "Fast Track Express" service between Civitavecchia and Roma, but this uses Civitavecchia FS station and does not go into the port.

Note that one of the diesel railcars caught fire on 20 August 2014 so the "Roma Express" may not be running. Nothing is said about this on the Seatrain Tours site.
